Multiple Anthropology by Feminists Love Captain Caveman Possible, but men typically won't hang around with a child that isn't his own (historically speaking)... so given that men had no means to confirm who had fathered the child, this behaviour would have been discouraged - and judging by the acts of marriage & social frowning up on bigamy, I'd guess that theory of mine works well. |

Multiple Anthropology by Squirrely! From an evolutionary standpoint anyway, if a woman is to get pregnant only so often, doesn't she stand to gain more (more pleasure, more potential access to food and resources, more diversity of offspring and thus more chance of offspring survival) by having Multiple partners?
