With a theatre, you can see the movie before it hits blu-ray. Blu-ray is better quality, but is released later, so that movie you have been waiting MONTHS to see, will not hit blu-ray for months after theatres.

My husband and I were just talking about this. If you invest in a good widescreen TV and surround sound (and don't mind waiting longer to watch a movie), then Blu-Ray DVDs are better than going to the movies.
The best a movie theater can do is DLP technology, which looks great. But at home, you can have 1080p, a dark room, surround sound that's optimized for your position in the room, no one talking, and incredibly cheaper food. But if we're only going on video quality, then Blu-Ray on a 1080p TV DOES look better than a movie theater screen.
Since having a baby, we can't make it to the theater as much. Having a killer setup at Home has made it something I haven't really missed.

Blu-Ray DVD's have the highest resolution of any kind of video. But does it also look better than watching a movie on film at a movie theatre?
I mean, if it does, besides the big screen, what would be the point of going out to see a movie if it isn't the best experience to watch one?
All you would need is a HomeTheatre and blu-ray.
But is Blu-Ray better than an actual movie theatre?
