development Homework Help by Simon C
In terms of a human being, development refers to how a person changes as they get older. For exampl, as a baby grows into a child, there is increas in size, increase in brainpower etc etc. development is an ongoing process that describes physical and mental changes in a person.
Health is about wheather or not a person's body or mind is working as it should. If a person is healthy, then their body organs function correctly and that there are no (or little) diseases or problems associated with the way their body works.
Health and development are linked, however, because if a person has poor health, then it can slow down or hinder their development. If a person is ill, for example, and is unable to walk, then the lack of exercise can lead to poor muscle development in the long term,
development can, of course, be mental as well. Children develop skills and knowledge in school and grow up to become adults, and much of what they learn in school can have a huge impact on how they are as adults. Again, this can be linked to health, because a person in poor health may be less motivated to learn, and may not develop to his or her full potential. Conversely, some people in poor health use their time to study and read and develop into very well informed and intelligent people, desipite having poor health.
